Main Major in Korean Language & Literature
1. Total Credits and GPA
-At least 130 credits, GPA 2.0 or higher

①At least 6credits from ‘Language&Literature’/ ‘Culture&Art’/ ‘History&Philosophy’ Fields (1 Recommended Course must be included)
②At least 3credits from ‘Politics&Economy’/’Humans&Society’ Fields
③At least 3credits from ‘Nature&Technology’/ ‘Life&Environment’ Fields
(These 3credits can be replaced with 1 course from ‘Quantitative Analysis and Reasoning’/’Scientific Thinking and Experimentation’/’Computer and Information Science’ Fields)
④At least 15credits from 4 different Fields
(4) At least 2credits from ‘General Education Electives’ courses
(5) Total 36 credits or more from entire General Education Courses
3. College of Humanites Requirements
(1) Must complete at least 3 courses conducted in foreign language
-Regardless of Course Classification(Major/General Education/Elective General Subject)
-The 3 Courses must be offered in SNU
-College English Courses are also allowed
(2) Must earn at least 9 credits from non-English Foreign Language Courses
-At least one course must be intermediate level or above
(3) “Readings in Classics1” or “Readings in Classics2”
(4) “Life and Humanities” Course
4. Major Courses Requirements
(1) Single Major in Korean Language & Literature
-Total 60credits from Major Courses(4 Required Subjects* must be included)
*Introduction to Korean Linguistics / History of Classical Korean Literature / History of Korean Language / History of Korean Modern Literature
-GPA of Major Courses must be 2.0 or higher
(2) Second Major or Minor in other Departments
-Total 39credits from Korean Language&Literature Major Courses(4 Required Subjects* must be included)
-GPA of Major Courses must be 2.0 or higher
5. Dept. of Korean Language & Literature Requirements
(1) Graduation Thesis must be approved after submission
-Contact Academic Advisor(March/Septemebr), Proposal Submission(late April/late October), Draft Submission & Presentation(mid June/mid December), Final Thesis Submission(late June/late December)
-Scholarly translation project in “Seminar in Translating Classics 1” course can be recognized as Graduation Thesis
(2) Must participate in Academic Field Trip
-Only held in Spring Semester(late April~early May)
Second Major in Korean Language & Literature(+Students from College of Liberal Studies)
1. Major Courses Requirements
(1)Total 39credits from Major Courses(4 Required Subjects* must be included)
*Introduction to Korean Linguistics / History of Classical Korean Literature / History of Korean Language / History of Korean Modern Literature
(2) GPA of Major Courses must be 2.0 or higher
2. College of Humanites Requirements(also for students from other college)
(1) Must complete at least 3 courses conducted in foreign language
-Regardless of Course Classification(Major/General Education/Elective General Subject)
-The 3 Courses must be offered in SNU
-College English Courses are also allowed
(2) Must compelte at least 1 non-English Foreign Language Course and get C-(1.7) or higher grade
(3) “Readings in Classics 1” or “Readings in Classics 2”
