Korean Linguistics

We study Korean language using the methodology of general linguistics.

Our research areas include the phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics of modern and pre-modern Korean language.

Korean Classical Literature

We study works of Korean novels, Korean poetry, oral literature, and Sino-Korean literature before the Enlightenment Period.

The study of Korean classical literature requires an understanding of the history, thought, and classics of the East Asian cultural sphere as a whole.

Korean Modern Literature

We study poetry, novels, plays, criticism, etc. after the Enlightment Period.
Analyzing and evaluating Korean literary works through general literary theory and methodology requires an interest in various cultural phenomena.
